Abigail Libed
From Passion to Purpose: My journey in Early Childhood Education
My name is Abigail Libed, and I will complete the Early Childhood Education program at Humber Polytechnic by December 2024. This journey has significantly deepened my passion for early childhood education and strengthened my commitment to nurturing young minds. As a mother of two daughters, I bring a unique perspective on the joys and challenges of parenting that enhances my approach to education. With extensive hands-on experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children in various settings, along with roles as an Early Childhood Assistant and Supply Teacher, I excel at creating inclusive and engaging learning environments.
My professional goal is to become a Registered Early Childhood Educator and to advance practices that support children’s holistic development. Guided by the principles of "How Does Learning Happen?" and the ELECT framework, I strive to cultivate environments where every child feels valued and supported. I am committed to advocating for equity and inclusivity within early learning programs, ensuring that all families and children have access to high-quality education.

I am a wife and mother of two wonderful girls and an ECE student at Humber College.
I would like to acknowledge with respect and recognition the Indigenous heritage of the Land that helped in my awareness and contributed to my aspiration as a professional ECE. I also have the privilege to impart that knowledge in the field and as I wrap up my last semester, I also acknowledge my current study at “Humber College located on the traditional and Treaty 13, 1805 lands of the Mississauga’s of the Credit. This territory is also subject to the Dish with One Spoon Wampum, a covenant agreement between Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Wendat peoples and allied nations to peaceably share the land and all its resources” (Short, L., 2019).
